This is a quick high level overview of Management Reporter, the next-generation FRx replacement. Caveat: This product is not available for ERPs other than Dynamics GP, SL, AX and NAV. 64 bit—native Back end completely rewritten—brand new .NET and C# code base replaces … [Read more...]

The Future of FRx and Management Reporter (for Dynamics GLs)

March 14, 2009 By Jan Lenoir Harrigan CPA 6 Comments

I’ve been in New Orleans this week attending Convergence—almost didn’t go home—had to tear myself away from the food and drink and music and dance and people and history and architecture and fun, but that’s another story in itself. But here’s what I learned about FRx’s … [Read more...]

More on FRx and XBRL

FRx and XBRL—probably not going to work too well. Check out Mark Polino's recent DynamicAccounting post on XBRL, FRx & PerformancePoint: "...it's increasingly likely that XBRL (the xml based financial statement/reporting language) is going to be mandated by the SEC..." I … [Read more...]

The initial news of FRx replacement by Management Reporter Week before last, I attended Convergence, Microsoft Business Solution’s end user conference. Bottom line, I don’t have a ton of new information that I haven’t already conveyed in previous posts, but here’s what I do … [Read more...]

About

Hey! I'm a CPA and I specialize in Management Reporter and FRx. [Sometimes with a side of snark.] I've been doing this for 22 years (yikes). But when I'm not working I can be found reveling in live music & pizza trailers at home in Austin Texas! —Jan Lenoir Harrigan More

Learn Management Reporter

Why fight with Microsoft's manual? Life is too short as it is.

My first manual—4 foundation reports:
covers-i-2d
My second manual—12 more reports:
covers-ii-2d
My third (and hopefully last) manual—cashflow:
covers-iii-2d

Watch out—a few unscrupulous consultants are lifting copyrighted original content from several sites, this one included, and passing it off as their own. I'm hacked off and I don't mind naming names. Bottom line—be very careful about whom you hire!

Who I Work With

I work with zillions of companies who run Dynamics GP, AX and SL.

And lots of other consultants.

So I work with accountants who need accurate financials to help close the books. Not to mention present to the Board.

I don't sell or install MR. [How smart am I?]

FRx is Toast

FRx is toast—and I hope you're getting rid of it soon—but just in case someone still needs to learn it:

  • FRx in 8 Hours—Introduction
  • FRx in 8 Hours—Intermediate

BTW, if you're on Dynamics, you can migrate to MR, but you should know there are other options. Choose what's best for you.

New to MR?

Here are 3 essentials to know before you start.

Background—back in the day, FRx was a famous midmarket report writer from a small agile company in Colorado. Then it got acquired. [Sigh]

Now it's owned by Microsoft. They rewrote it and rebranded it Management Reporter.

The two are very much alike and much of the FRx content here also applies to MR.
