FRx Training Manual: FRx in 8 Hours—Intermediate

February 16, 2010: I have just finished writing this FRx 6.7 tutorial. Just like its predecessor Introduction, it’s a full color step-by-step self-study tutorial.

This course covers 6 reports and lots of concepts for saving time and using FRx more effectively. It’s 116 pages and is designed for FRx 6.7. Cost is $165 (plus sales tax if you live in Texas). Downloadable immediately in PDF format.

Prerequisites: Before using this manual, you should have a good basic understanding of FRx: how to create an accurate report from scratch, how to enable drilldown capability, how to navigate efficiently, how to find missing accounts. This manual is the continuation of FRx in 8 Hours—Introduction which covers basics as well as numerous ways to use FRx efficiently.

Table of Contents:  FRx-in-8-Hours-Intermediate-Table-of-Contents

Sample Pages:  FRx-in-8 Hours-Intermediate-Sample-Pages

These are the reports that I cover in this course…enjoy!

  • Income Statement Trend (January through December)
  • Income Statement (MTD and YTD) with Percent of Revenue Columns
  • Budget Variance (MTD and YTD)
  • Side by Side Departmental (Departments in Columns) using Account Filters
  • Side by Side Departmental using Reporting Units
  • Consolidating Balance Sheet

About

Hey! I'm a CPA and I specialize in Management Reporter and FRx. [Sometimes with a side of snark.] I've been doing this for 22 years (yikes). But when I'm not working I can be found reveling in live music & pizza trailers at home in Austin Texas! —Jan Lenoir Harrigan More

Learn Management Reporter

Why fight with Microsoft's manual? Life is too short as it is.

My first manual—4 foundation reports:
covers-i-2d
My second manual—12 more reports:
covers-ii-2d
My third (and hopefully last) manual—cashflow:
covers-iii-2d

Watch out—a few unscrupulous consultants are lifting copyrighted original content from several sites, this one included, and passing it off as their own. I'm hacked off and I don't mind naming names. Bottom line—be very careful about whom you hire!

"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur."
—Red Adair

Who I Work With

I work with zillions of companies who run Dynamics GP, AX and SL.

And lots of other consultants.

So I work with accountants who need accurate financials to help close the books. Not to mention present to the Board.

I don't sell or install MR. [How smart am I?]

FRx is Toast

FRx is toast—and I hope you're getting rid of it soon—but just in case someone still needs to learn it:

  • FRx in 8 Hours—Introduction
  • FRx in 8 Hours—Intermediate

BTW, if you're on Dynamics, you can migrate to MR, but you should know there are other options. Choose what's best for you.

New to MR?

Here are 3 essentials to know before you start.

Background—back in the day, FRx was a famous midmarket report writer from a small agile company in Colorado. Then it got acquired. [Sigh]

Now it's owned by Microsoft. They rewrote it and rebranded it Management Reporter.

The two are very much alike and much of the FRx content here also applies to MR.
