FRx Questionnaire

If you would like to talk about working together, the first step is to send me the answers to this questionnaire about your FRx implementation. A PDF version follows.

General Questions:
1. What version of FRx are you using? (Go to Help>About: 6.7.xxxx)
2. On which GL?
3. What’s your account structure? i.e. natural-department-location-profit center
4. Do you use Report Manager or Report Server?
5. Is this a new implementation or do you have existing reports?
6. Do you have multiple companies to consolidate?
7. Do all your companies use the same GL?
8. Do all your companies use exactly the same chart of accounts?
9. Do all your companies use the same fiscal year?
10. Do you use any alternative accounting periods such as 52/53 week or 4/4/5?
11. Have any multicurrency issues?
12. Do you have security enabled in FRx?
13. Do you need to report using statistics like headcount or units?
14. If so, are your stats in the GL or do you need to link to excel?
15. Have you experienced any installation-related issues with FRx, or is everything stable?
16. Any specific difficulties you’re having?
17. What’s your timeframe?
18. I’m in Austin, Texas. Where are you?
19. Do you want assistance onsite or is this a Remote Access project?

A few more questions if you want users trained:

1. How much training do you want for your users, just a quick overview on how to run the new reports, or do you want them doing the report development (or somewhere in between)?
2. What’s the experience of users (beginner, intermediate)?
3. How many users are to be trained?
4. Are there any specific issues you want covered?
5. What reports do you want completed at the end of training? Be as specific as possible at this early stage of the game.
6. How many Designer licenses do you have?

OR:
You may use this downloadable PDF. If you have a later version of Reader, you will be able to save the form data and then email it to me: FRx Questionnaire

About

Hey! I'm a CPA and I specialize in Management Reporter and FRx. [Sometimes with a side of snark.] I've been doing this for 22 years (yikes). But when I'm not working I can be found reveling in live music & pizza trailers at home in Austin Texas! —Jan Lenoir Harrigan More

Learn Management Reporter

Why fight with Microsoft's manual? Life is too short as it is.

My first manual—4 foundation reports:
covers-i-2d
My second manual—12 more reports:
covers-ii-2d
My third (and hopefully last) manual—cashflow:
covers-iii-2d

Watch out—a few unscrupulous consultants are lifting copyrighted original content from several sites, this one included, and passing it off as their own. I'm hacked off and I don't mind naming names. Bottom line—be very careful about whom you hire!

Who I Work With

I work with zillions of companies who run Dynamics GP, AX and SL.

And lots of other consultants.

So I work with accountants who need accurate financials to help close the books. Not to mention present to the Board.

I don't sell or install MR. [How smart am I?]

FRx is Toast

FRx is toast—and I hope you're getting rid of it soon—but just in case someone still needs to learn it:

  • FRx in 8 Hours—Introduction
  • FRx in 8 Hours—Intermediate

BTW, if you're on Dynamics, you can migrate to MR, but you should know there are other options. Choose what's best for you.

New to MR?

Here are 3 essentials to know before you start.

Background—back in the day, FRx was a famous midmarket report writer from a small agile company in Colorado. Then it got acquired. [Sigh]

Now it's owned by Microsoft. They rewrote it and rebranded it Management Reporter.

The two are very much alike and much of the FRx content here also applies to MR.
