FRx and Management Reporter News from Convergence

by Jan Harrigan CPA

Well OK—Convergence was back in April and now it’s June! Sorry—no excuses! So without further delay, here are some of the main discussion points around FRx and Management Reporter.

BTW, some discussion was official, some not so official. {smile}

Migration from FRx to Management Reporter

  • Download and print the migration documentation. There’s a lot of (nitpicky) preparation to do BEFORE migrating, and this document spells it all out. Don’t skip this part.
  • The migration document is KB 2425087.
  • Tip: Migration clears the MR database, so if you’ve been playing around and have existing reports you want to keep, you should export them first.
  • One last note, there were plenty of migration fixes in FP1 and SP1. Don’t go there without them. [click to continue…]

Update: FRx Future for Epicor and Sage

by Jan Harrigan CPA

Epicor and Sage and FRx: what deadline?

Rumor has it that Epicor and Sage have an extended agreement with Microsoft that will allow customers to continue purchasing FRx until 12/31/11.

I heard this a few months ago and I’m really hoping it’s true. I tried contacting both Sage and Epicor so that I could hear it straight from the horse’s mouth. My efforts were ridiculously (or ridonkulously) ineffective. After hours on hold, well…I hung up.

Now I’ve heard it from a couple of colleagues as well. Here’s hoping.

How long will Microsoft continue to provide tech support for FRx for these two ERPs? I have no idea.

I’m hoping some readers might know something and comment as needed. Cheers—Jan

March 14, 2009

I’ve been in New Orleans this week attending Convergence—almost didn’t go home—had to tear myself away from the food and drink and music and dance and people and history and architecture and fun, but that’s another story in itself. But here’s what I learned about FRx’s future. First things first: if your GL is not [...]
